Apparently there's veterinarians who only work with abandoned or shelter animals. I wish that I had known about these types of surgeries and vet practices as a kid. I really wanted to be a vet, but decided to not pursue it in my sophomore year of high school, because as sad as it would be to lose a patient, I always knew that I'd have a tough time if something happened to a pet. That was reiterated a couple years ago when we took our sweet cat into the vets to check on a growth on her hip.
